Sustainability, stacked.

In my sophomore studio, we were tasked with creating a lamp from a material that came in sheets. Rather than a plastic or metal, I chose cork- a material that is entirely sustainable and even carbon negative.

Process.

I ordered cork sheets from Amorim, and laser-cut these to create stackable cubes. Cork has great friction and temperature resistance, so I determined that this would be a suitable 3D for for the sheets to take.

Once laser cut, the cubes were assembled by sanding bevels in the edges and gluing. I made 10 of these lamps to sell for $60 each.
