A solution for pickleball players to understand court capacity to reduce wait times.
The Crocker Innovation Fellowship Program is a transformative, interdisciplinary, one-year innovation experience for students from any major. Teams study and practice the principles of entrepreneurial innovation, drawing on ideas from design thinking, entrepreneurship, product development, and agile software.
Unmet Needs
The needs we are working to meet revolve around the fastest-growing sport in America—pickleball. These needs include:
Being able to find an open court when able to play
Finding people to play with (strangers at a court or pre-arranged)
Playing with others who know and respect the rules
Easily finding both public and private playing options in the same spot.
Validation
Over the course of a year, our team conducted over 50 interviews with both pickleball players and park managers. The team visited tradeshows to present the idea and gather feedback.
A capacity sensor, easily installed at Pickleball courts to give players live updates of court capacity.
The Solution
I piloted, tested, and implemented UX/UI design, web design, and branding for the team.
